Expand the College Football Playoffs to Eight Teams Already!

Having only four teams in NCAA Football to try and earn a national title is just not enough with how much talent is out there in different conferences. Not only is it usually the same teams who are able to be contenders of the title, but there are so many other worthy teams who do not get the chance.

There are plenty of reasons why it will probably stay at four teams instead of expanding to eight, but I think more than Alabama and Auburn fans and NCAA prediction money makers need to be discussing it.

The percentages will definitely be smaller for teams to win since there will be four more added, this makes it harder for predictions to be made for the tournament. But I still believe people will go for the main/top teams in the league to win, but it will make the tournament more interesting adding some wildcards who deserve a chance.

If basketball can have 68 teams in the NCAA tournament, then the least football can have 8. All teams and conferences are different, some harder or easier than others, but how can you really define "the best team in the nation" if you do not widen the field of which to discover this overall best team.

Not only will it give other teams a chance to show their worth to higher level teams, this will also make more money for the league. It will add more games for people to watch and go to and will create more fans of the league for giving a chance to the smaller level teams. So what's the problem, seems like a good idea financially and would change things up and make the tournament more interesting for viewers and teams.

Another problem is, which I did not see coming, the players are not for it. The 2016 defensive MVP Ben Boulware said that there is no way the players could physically do it. "If we had to do another game after this? God, no," Clemson linebacker Ben Boulware said to SB Nation. "I’d literally die." Being an athlete, I can see why he would say that, there would be no way to play another game after fighting to make it to the championship, this is definitely something to think about for everyone considering expanding the tournament to eight teams.

Though there are solid reasons to not expand it, I still believe that the "little guy" teams need to be seen, not just heard on what they can do for their school and their fans. That is why I believe the NCAA Playoffs should be expanded to eight teams.
